Ghanaian midfielder Enoch Kofi Adu played a half as Swedish giants Malmo FF saw off Danish side Odense BK in their first offseason friendly.

Adu was overlooked for the starting lineup but was introduced at half time as Allan Kuhn shuffled his options.

Malmo ultimately secured a late victory when Vidar Orn Kjartansson scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute of the encounter to get the Swedish heavyweights’ preparations before the resumption of their campaign underway.

Malmo currently sit atop the Allsvenskan after 12 matches having accrued 27 points, three more than second-placed Norrkoping.

After a fairly uneventful first 45 minutes, Kuhn opted to rotate his team, although despite introducing Adu at the break, it was the Danish side who enjoyed the better of the early action after the pause.

Icelandic forward Kjartansson broke the deadlock following Magnus Wolff Eikrem’s fine pass, although OB had a chance to equalise with a late strike that hit the woodwork.

“It was a great pass from Magnuss and a cool finish from Vidar,” said Kuhn to the club’s official website after the match.

25-year-old Adu featured in all six of Malmo’s Champions League group matches last season, but struggled as his side ended up bottom of a pool containing Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Chicago Fire were linked to the midfielder earlier in the year by the Ghanaian media.
