NSU to meet Sports Minister over AFCON trip

The leadership of the Nationwide Supporters Union (NSU) is planning to meet the Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga before December 25 to discuss the need for government to fly fans to Equatorial Guinea to support the Black Stars during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to the NSU President, Aziz Haruna Futah, his supporter’s union is ready to pay for the acquisition of visas for its members but government must cater for the ticket fares and accommodation of the fans.

“We are planning to let him (Mahama Ayariga) know that the supporters were not part of the problem in Brazil. We don’t care whether we sleep in a classroom and wake up to go and support the team. We can take care of our visas but government must support us,” Mr. Haruna Futah told Accra based radio station Starr 103.5FM.

The Sports Ministry is yet to make a definite decision on sending supporters to Mongomo for the continental showpiece following the humiliation that government run into during the Brazil 2014, when some fans refused to return to the country.
