Ghana Premier League chief confident of great season

Ghana Premier League Board chief Welbeck Abra-Appiah is confident the upcoming season will be a fabulous one.

The start of the Ghana Premier League has been tentatively fixed for September 21 pending the approval from Congress, the highest decision body of the Ghana FA.

The return of three former Premier League sides Great Olympics, Feyernord and BA United will add spice and enhance rivalry in the competition this term.

Champions Kotoko, Heart of Lions, Ashantigold and Hearts of Oak are heavily involved in a mini pre-season tournament to trim the rough edges ahead of a tough season.

The Ghana Premier League boss has been left in no doubt that the season will be a fine one despite fears King Faisal’s protest could delay the start of the season.

“Irrespective of what some people say, this season will be a fine one,” he said.

“We are waiting for congress to approve the date and then we can go ahead.

“We know there are few outstanding issues but I believe it will be sorted out before we start.

“There is no cause for alarm. This year will be a fabulous season. We should just be patient and wait.”
