Ghana Gov’t BANS Football for 4 years due to Mismanagement at GFA | Nyantakyi to be Sacked

Aside the presidency, one of the most corrupt and mismanaged bodies in the country is Ghana Football Association (GFA). Day in and day out, the corrupt practices within the body keep getting worse and this, many people say is supervised by none other than the President of the Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi.

For the many Ghanaians who always advocate for the termination of Nyantakyi’s term and restructuring of the Football Association, there is good news for you. The Government of Ghana has officially banned football in the country for 4 years due to the way GFA is messing up the affairs of football in the country.

In a press statement issued on Monday, February 8, 2016, and signed by President John Dramani Mahama, the government asserted that it cannot sit idle for a few group of people to be mismanaging the Ghana Football Association because the NDC government is there to fight corruption and mismanagement.

According to the statement, President Mahama is angry about the fact that Ghana, the gateway to Africa, has dropped from 33rd to 41st position in the latest FIFA rankings. This, he said, could jeopardize his chances of winning the 2016 presidential election so in order to increase his chances of winning, he has to do away with anything that can possibly hinder his success.

The statement further stated that mismanagement in Ghana football has gone on for far too long and now is the time for restructuring. The government intends to use the four years in planning and restructuring the game of football in the country.
From what we are told, President Mahama is preparing to sack Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, the President of GFA, for non-performance.
