GBC concludes 50th anniversary with prayers

The Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) on Sunday climaxed its 50th anniversary celebration at the Calvary Baptist Church at Shashie in Accra, on the theme: “Celebrating the Past and Embracing the Future for Greater Kingdom Impact.”

Reverend Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, Executive President of the Convention said the GBC has over the years witnessed the evolution of leaders who have influence the mission and Ghana in diverse ways. He expressed the hope that in the coming years, many of the youth in the GBC would take up leadership training to become future leaders and deacons.

Rev Adu-Gyamfi said member churches of the convention have grown from one to more than 2000 for the 50 years. Rev Dr Leslie Hollon, Senior Pastor of North Carolina Baptist Church, USA, said there is nothing comparable to God’s goodness, which must always be acknowledged by his creatures.

He said God’s goodness is constant and that no matter the situation and condition at which His creatures find themselves they must be thankful and appreciative. Rev Hollon said God is all the time good in nature and it is important that His creatures appreciate Him.

He said the core values of the convention are compassion for lost souls, commitment to Christ and, humility, integrity, discipline, accountability, transparency and courage. There were solidarity and fraternal greetings from the Methodist Church of Ghana, Maranatha College, Assemblies of God and North American Baptist Church.

Rev Fred Deegbe, Chairman of the Denominational Board of the Convention said the GBC recognises and appreciate the fruitful relationship it has with other religious churches and called for partnership among the convention member churches.
