Church marks anniversary with health walk

The Corpus Christi Catholic Church at Krofrom, Kumasi, has organized a five-hour health walk with a call on Ghanaians to learn to do “the very simple things” to stay healthy and avoid diseases.

The Reverend Father Raphael Annan, the Parish Priest, said there is the need to put premium on preventive health and keep their surroundings tidy, and that, they should maintain good personal hygiene, avoid bad eating habits, smoking and excessive alcohol intake.

The Rev Father Annan said it was important to ensure regular physical exercises, saying that, the growing incidence of lifestyle-related diseases gives cause for worry and must be tackled with urgency and seriousness.

The walk formed part of activities lined up to mark the 40th anniversary celebration of the church, which is being held under the theme “Chalice of salvation, our faith”.

The health walk started from Krofrom to Suame through the Airport Roundabout and the Manhyia Palace, and was patronised by both the old and the young, with the oldest among them, aged 72.

Mr Mark Kwakye, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Church, invited all to continue to pray for the nation’s peace and prosperity.
