E.P Church urged to adopt Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade concept

The General Assembly of the E.P. Church has been asked to push for the mandatory formation of Companies of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade in all congregations of the Church.

Such Companies must be supported by the various congregations to embark on entrepreneur development schemes to the benefit of the Church and the promotion of the activities of the Companies.

Lieutenant Innocent Attipoe, Commander of the First Ho Company of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade of the Elorm E.P. Church, made the call at its 10th anniversary thanksgiving service in Ho.

The anniversary was celebrated on the theme, “The Brigade Ambassadors of Christ.”

Lieutenant Attipoe who was giving an overview of the challenges and activities of the first Ho Company, said its initiatives at establishing other Companies in some congregations of the Church in and outside the Volta Region, had minimal success for lack of encouragement by those congregations.

He said on the contrary the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade concept has found a firm footing in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

Established youth oriented groups within the E.P. Church countrywide include the Christian Youth Builders (CYB) and the E.P. Students Union (EPSU).

Lieutenant Attipoe said the Brigade provides the platform for developing the youths of the Church for spiritual, social, physical and mental discipline.

He urged parents to encourage and support their children to join the Brigade groups and take keen interest it their activities.

Lieutenant Attipoe appealed to Brigaders who have progressed to tertiary institutions and employment to maintain “their relationship with the Brigade wherever they find themselves.”
