Catholic Ashanti based journalists form association

Journalists in the Ashanti Region belonging to the Roman Catholic Church have come together to form an association called the Catholic Association of Media Practitioners-Ghana (CAMP-G).

Mr Johnson Gyampoh, Editor of Kumasi-based private newspaper, “The Pioneer”, is the interim Chairman of the association which aims to promote the Catholic faith and teachings through the media.

The Reverend Monsignor Douglas Peters, Vicar General of the Kumasi Metropolitan Archdiocese, said this was part the church’s vision to unite all professionals and tap into their expertise to grow the church.

He said the expectation was that, they would set high standards of professionalism and become good examples to their other colleagues.

The Rev Msgr Peters asked them to help draw attention to immoral and ungodly practices that tend to hold the society back through their writings.

Mr Gyampoh appealed to all journalists in the church to join the association.**
