Hundreds of Muslims left frustrated at the hajj village

Hundreds of pilgrims scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj ritual are stranded at the Hajj village in Accra.

There has been no flight takeoff for the past two days, however unconfirmed reports has it that the last flight is scheduled to depart on Wednesday September 16, 2015.

This has stirred a lot of frustration and anger amongst pilgrims. It is not clear whether this last flight will be able to contain all the remaining pilgrims.

The committee led by its Chairman Alhaji Tanko has since remained mute creating panic and tension within the quarters of the Hajj village.

Embarking on this journey is in fulfillment of one of the fundamental pillars of the Islamic faith. Muslims across the globe travel in millions to Mecca Saudi Arabia to observe and take part in a series of rituals in adherence to Allah.

It presents pilgrims an opportunity to renew their faith and also to ask of forgiveness from Allah almighty. The significance of this ritual is so great that, no Muslims will want to miss this opportunity.

Unconfirmed reports emanating from the offices at the Hajj village has it that a lot of passports are still stuck at the Saudi embassy awaiting visas. It is also rumored that, the Saudi embassy have stopped issuing visas which means that it is most likely a significant number might not get the chance to embark on this all important trip.

Speaking with some stranded persons at the hajj village, they expressed a lot of disappointment towards the Hajj committee and the government. One said that “when the president visited us nearly two weeks ago, he gave us the assurance of his support and assistance, as I speak with you now there has been nobody to communicate to us what the real problem is. Everything is based on hearsay”.

Moreover, some of these aggrieved and frustrated individuals are said to be going on the ticket of government. They are calling on the President and his government to please come to their aid.
