Dormaa SDA Church launches development programme

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Nov. 22, GNA - Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, President of Dormaa Traditional Council and Pastor James Kwaku Badu, President of the Ghana Mid-West Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), have jointly launched a 10 billion cedis 10-year development programme for the Dormaa District chapter of the Church. Projects envisaged under the programme include the construction of offices for an ultra-modern hospital and a nursing training school at Dormaa-Ahenkro to complement government efforts at making basic health care accessible to the people.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu commended the Church for its vision and commitment to go beyond evangelisation and respond to the material and health needs of the people.
The Omanhene on behalf of the traditional council donated four acres of land to the Church towards the construction of the nursing school.
He pledged the council's unflinching support for the projects and urged the Church not to hesitate to approach him for further assistance. Pastor Badu expressed the Church's gratitude to the Dormaa community for allowing it to embark on the projects.
He said the Church was dedicated to providing education and basic healthcare for the people in addition to its primary objective of evangelisation.
Pastor Badu urged the clergy and laity of the Church in the area not to expect immediate returns from the projects but rather to take consolation in the projects' potential to improve the standard of living of future generations.
He announced that the Mid-West Conference was sponsoring three medical students and seven nursing trainees from the District.
Pastor Paul Amoh-Kyeremeh of the District branch of the Church, thanked donors including Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Deputy Interior Minister, the two Members of Parliament for Dormaa and Squadron Leader Benjamin Anane Asamoah (rtd), Dormaa District Chief Executive, for their support and contributions towards the smooth take-off of the hospital project.
