Christians need the Holy Spirit to overcome sin- Rev.Hammond

The Superintendent Minister of the Ebenezer Methodist church at Madina, Very Rev. John Hammond on Sunday said Christians who indulge in sinful acts would need the Holy Spirit to subdue it, "or else they would be making a mockery of Christianity."

He said if people continue to live on this Earth, then it is by the grace f God and an opportunity for them to repent before they are called into eternity.

The Very Rev. Hammond was delivering the sermon during an eucharistic church service on Sunday at the Ebenezer Methodist Church at Madina, in Accra.

Preaching the sermon on the theme,"Be A Channel Of truth and Holiness",the Minister said "it was not what Christians put on their bodies or their worldly desires that pleases God but what is within their heart"

"The way to honour God is not by looking beautiful or handsome,it is not by oratory or being heard on the news" but to exhibit the virtues of Christianity."

The Very Rev. Hammond said Ghana is a Christian nation "but the ways of men are corrupt" and urged Christians to lead the crusade to rid society of abominable deeds, which does not edify the temple of Christ.

He reminded Christians that it was only those who do the will of God who will enter his kingdom, including Ministers of the gospel who do not live according to the word of God.
