Christianity must respond to the needs of the society -Bishop

The Sefwi-Bodi Anglican Church near Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western Region, has inducted the Reverend Canon Bismark Arkaah-Kintoh as the third Archdeacon with a call on the church to strive to transform the society.

The Right Reverend Abraham K. Ackah, Anglican Bishop of Sefwi-Wiawso, said this could be done through effective propagation of the Gospel, provision of social amenities and attending to the needs of the poor and needy in the society to enhance the national development process.

The church, he said, was an agent of change and as such was obliged to pay attention not only to the spiritual progress of the people but also ensure the sustenance of physical wellbeing.

Right Reverend Ackah charged Christians to abide by the tenets of the Bible, noting that it was their responsibility to demonstrate humility, truthfulness and honesty in their endeavours.

The life of a Christian, he noted, was more of sacrificial and selflessness, stressing that it was expected of them to work harder to address the upsurge in social vices that threatened sustainable growth.

Right Reverend Ackah reminded the newly-inducted Archdeacon of the duties that was expected of him and urged him to show respect and also be obedient to the leadership and doctrines of the church.

He should also establish strong linkages with other sister churches in the area to promote peace and unity.

Venerable Arkaah-Kintoh thanked the church for the confidence reposed in him and promised to live up to expectation.
