Bishop Eddie L. Long: Another Pimp in the Pulpit

He was my “Pastor, Friend, Counselor, Confidant and Minister” thought by many, only to eventually expose the secret lives that many Pastors lead in today's churches.

Bishop Eddie L. Long, founder of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, is currently being sued by four young men on the grounds that he coerced them into having sex with him.

Bishop Long is known for devoutly preaching against homosexuality and has been quoted as saying that homosexuality is a “spiritual abortion”, even though Court papers contradict what he preaches.

Not only is the Pastor accused of having sex with his “Spiritual Sons”, Court papers reveal that he used candlelight ceremonies, jewelry and Biblical verses to reinforce the spiritual and God-like connection between himself and the young men.

Is he a Man of God or a Pimp in the Pulpit?

Bishop Long is among several of the mega-church pastors in our society. He is paid up to $5 million annually, with a congregation of over 25,000 people.

Other Pimps in the Pulpit are:

• T. D. Jakes, with his $45 million sanctuary in Dallas;

• Creflo Dollar, with his two Rolls-Royces, million dollar home in Atlanta and private jet;

• Joyce Meyer, who lives in a $2 million home and flies on a $10 million aircraft;

• I.V. Hilliard, the Pimp of Houston, who flies in a helicopter from service to service; and, by the way, participates in Senior Pastor Conferences with Bishop Eddie Long; and

• Let’s not forget the smaller-scale pastors who ride around in their Bentleys and Range Rovers with flashy jewelry who “keep each other in business by passing the buck.” They cannot give their congregation a message on Sundays because they are “too busy networking” through the week and there is simply not enough time in the day to study and prepare to deliver God’s Word to their congregation.

Just like prostitution, the only one who seems to prosper is the pimp. The parishioners make sure that the Pulpit Pimp has the best that God has to offer, even though their own living standards are questionable.
