Grace Baptist church donates mattresses to female prisoners

Kumasi, Dec.2, GNA - The Grace Baptist Church in Kumasi on Friday donated 30 high-density Ashfoam mattresses valued at eight million cedis to inmates of the Kumasi Central Female Prisons. The donation was in fulfillment of a pledge made two years ago when the church made similar donation to the inmates.

Presenting the items, Reverend George Owusu-Mensah, an associate pastor of the church, urged the public to shun discrimination against ex-convicts. "We should not run away from them but accept and re-integrate them into the society just as our Lord Jesus Christ accepted sinners," He noted.

Rev Owusu-Mensah announced that the Centre for Community Empowerment (CeForce), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) within the church had trained about 5,000 youth to acquire employable skills since its establishment in 1995. The youth were trained in soap making, pastries, batik and tie and dye making. Receiving the items, Chief Superintendent of Prisons Josephine Fredua-Agyemang, in-charge of the Prisons, commended the church for their continuous support to the inmates.
