Nyakrom SEC/Tech PTA donates bus to School

Agona Nyakrom, C/R, Oct 13, GNA- The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the Nyakrom Secondary/Technical School has presented a bus worth 150 million cedis to the school.

Mr Emmanuel K Ampiah, Chairman of the PTA, expressed the hope that the bus would help solve the transportation problem facing the school. He said since 1999 when he took over the Chairmanship the Association, the PTA had built a 60 million-cedi three classroom block, constructed a Sports Field estimated at six million cedis and provided a deep freezer worth 1.5 million cedis to the school. Mr Ampiah said the PTA had provided three million cedis out of an estimated seven million cedis for a canteen.

The PTA Chairman called on parents to visit their children regularly to keep them abreast with their academic work, adding that, "Such visit serve as a moral booster for the children to feel at home". Mr J M K Ampiah, Chairman of the Board of Governors, said the development of the school also depended on parents and not teachers alone.

He called for co-operation between the teachers and parents and guardians to ensure quality educational standards for the students. He said a Science block started many years ago had still not been completed and appealed to the government and Agona District Assembly for assistance.

Mr John Kwesi Aidoo, Head Master, thanked the PTA for kind gesture and pledged to take good care of the vehicle.

He announced that the upgrading of the school into a model one was being pursued and asked the government to expedite action.

Mr Aidoo asked parents to assist the teachers in molding the character of their children and warned that any student found indulging in the act of indiscipline would not be spared.
