One more death recorded in yesterday's fatal accident

Nkawkaw, Jan. 19, GNA - One additional death has been recorded at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital from Sunday's fatal motor accident at Danteng, near Nkawkaw, bringing the total number of casualties to ten. According to the Nkawkaw Divisional MTTU Police Commander, ASP Benjamin Wordui, three of the victims with compound fractures on admission at the Hospital have been referred to the 37 Military Hospital, while one was also referred to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, for further treatment. He said two additional victims of the accident had been identified, bringing the number to six.

ASP Wordui named them as Eric Kwasi Kyere of House number H/87 Brekum, Emil Anyabui, the Customs Officer, James Tawiah, the driver of the Dodge bus, Albert Donkor, Nana Kwarteng and Vera Osei Kwabena. Seven people died on the spot and two later at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital when the bus, with registration AS 6256 C, in an attempt to overtake a vehicle ahead of it, ran into on-coming Burkina Faso articulator truck with registration number 11G9375 BF at Danteng, near Nkawkaw.

The bus was travelling from Accra to Kumasi while the articulator truck was on its way to the Tema harbour from Burkina Faso.
