Nkoranza DCE urges students to eschew social vices

Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomoh, Nkoranza North District Chief Executive (DCE), has advised students to eschew social vices and concentrate on their education to attain academic excellence to become responsible leaders.

He further advised parents and guardians to offer the necessary support and encouragement to boost the morale of their children and wards, for them to study harder because “education is the best legacy they can bequeath to them”.

Mr. Agyei-Dwomoh gave the advice at separate meetings with the staff and students of Yefriman Senior High School (SHS) and Busunya SHS at Yefri and Busunya respectively, on Wednesday during the presentation of 400 students metal beds and mattresses each to the two schools.

He said the items formed part of the government’s decision to make SHS education free, emphasizing that individual students of schools that had received those packages would no more pay bed- user fees.

Mr. Agyei-Dwomoh announced that 15 students from each of the two schools had also been awarded Government Scholarships, spanning a three-year SHS education period, disclosing that a cheque for GH¢26,250 had already been presented to Yefriman SHS for the 15 beneficiary students, while their counterparts at Busunya SHS would receive theirs in June.

Mr. Matthew Gbaarah, Nkoranza North District Director of Education cautioned the authorities of the two schools to avoid hiring the mattresses to the general public for economic gains.

Messrs Erasmus Robert Adu-Tutu and Bernard Mornah, Headmasters of Yefriman and Busunya SHSs respectively, commended the government for the effort to make education attractive for children of school going-age and the youth.
