FINATRADE Foundation donates to save life

The Finatrade Foundation has donated GH¢ 7,000.00 as its contribution towards the surgery of a four year old boy at the National Cardiothoracic Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The patient Jedidiah Seyram Pongo has been diagnosed with a hole-in-heart from birth affecting his talking.

Though both parents are self-employed, the amount needed for the operation was beyond their finances hence their decision to seek the support of private individuals and companies.

Surgery at the cardiothoracic centre costs between $5,000 and $12,000, and the Ghana Heart Foundation takes care of 50 per cent of the cost; Seyram’s surgery is estimated at $12,000.

At a short ceremony at the head office of the Finatrade Group of Companies, the Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mr. John Awuni said that the donation was part of its contribution towards saving the life of the little boy.

He said the Finatrade Foundation since its establishment in 2003 has engaged in numerous humanitarian activities including donations to the prisons, feeding the under-privileged and also individuals with critical health conditions.

“We are hopeful that our donation will make up for the others mobilized so that the little boy can have his surgery done on time to enable him have a normal life,” he said.

Mr. Setorwu Pongo, father of the boy expressed delight at the gesture and thanked the Finatrade Foundation for the contribution.

“The amount donated by the Foundation is exactly what we needed to make up for the ones we have mobilized so far and we are forever grateful for this kind gesture”, he said.
