Parents entreated to support girl child education

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Prestea Huni/Valley, Mr Francis Adu-Blay Koffie has called on parents to support their daughters to further their education to the tertiary level.

He said women would be able to contribute meaningfully to the social development of their communities if they were well educated.

Mr Koffie gave the advice when he presented cash of Ghc1,500.000 to the assembly member for Dumasi electoral area to roof a wooden structure for the Bogoso Dumasi Methodist Kindergarten.

The MP expressed worry about the failure of some parents in deprived communities to support their daughters to further their education beyond the Junior High School (JHS) level.

Mr Koffie advised girls to take advantage of the numerous government educational intervention to enable them to achieve academic success.

He said government would continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to support the education of girls and appealed to girls to be serious with their studies.

The MP announced that the Prestea Huni/Valley constituency will be benefiting from the second phase of the Community Day Senior High Schools Project.

The assembly member for Dumasi Electoral Area, Madam Juana Mainoo, who received the money on behalf of the community, thanked the MP for the gesture.
