Assembly woman promises to make Toviadzi clean

The Assembly member for Toviadzi Electoral Area in Ho, Ms Sheeba Happy Aloryitor, has indicated her commitment to work with the municipal authorities and religious bodies to keep the electoral area clean.

She said having mobilised resources to construct three drainage facilities in the past four years, her priority was now to improve sanitation in the slum and make the area the cleanest.

Ms Aloryitor said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a clean-up exercise at Ho-Vanakpoe near the central market.

The exercise had the support of members of the Ho District Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church and the personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

Ms Aloryitor, who is seeking re-election, described Vanakpoe as the face of Ho, in view of its closeness to the central business district and promised to beautify the area and rid it of filth and criminal activities.

She said it was unfortunate that the area recorded six cholera cases last year and indicated that she was liaising with religious bodies to help improve sanitation in the area.

Ms Aloryitor said apart from the National Sanitation Day exercise, she was working with opinion leaders to declare another day as “Toviadzi Day” for the cleaning and beautification of streets in the area.

Pastor Kwame Yeboah Hayford, the Ho District Pastor of SDA, pledged the support of the church to ensure environmental cleanliness in Ho.

He said the church was ready to partner individuals and groups to clean selected areas every last Sunday of the month because “health promotion is part of our mission.”
