13 Tema sub-chiefs gazetted

Tema Traditional Authority has gazetted into its Council thirteen (13) sub-chiefs with a call on them to help the Paramount Chief, Nii Adjei Krakue II, to succeed.

Registrar of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Harry Attipoe, who made the call, also cautioned them against issuing summons and making unnecessary complaints against the paramount chief.

He also charged them to follow laid down procedure in the destoolment of chiefs.

According to him, when people want to destool their chief, they would first have to inform the regional house of chiefs. “…the regional house of chiefs fail, then they can go to the Supreme Court for a ruling. “It is only the Supreme Court that can order the destoolment of a chief," he averred.

He stated that it is only those who enstooled the chief who have the right to destool him when the need arises.

Mr. Atiipoe, therefore, advised the youth to desist from taking the law into their own hands and destooling chiefs unnecessarily.

On his part, Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku II, also called on the sub-chiefs to help him develop the traditional area.

He said they must work hard to leave a good legacy for generations yet unborn.

He went on to advise them not to indulge in things that will affect the integrity and respect for the chieftaincy institution.
