Zabzugu District Assembly awards projects under DDF

The Zabzugu District Assembly has awarded contracts for the construction of three-unit classroom-block each at Zabzugu Senior High School and Woribogu D/A Primary School, from its share of the 2011 District Development Facility (DDF).

Other projects listed for construction under the DDF are spot improvement and reshaping of the Zabzugui-Tikpralanyili road and the construction of a five -unit police accommodation at Zabzugu.

Sanitation materials would also be procured to address the sanitation situation of the district.

Mr Issifu Alidu Laa-Bandow, District Chief Executive, who made this known at Zabzugu in the Northern Region, said the projects are part of the Better Ghana Agenda of President Dramani Mahama.

Mr Alidu Laa-Bandow, who made this known in a sod cutting for the commencement of work, thanked stakeholders like assembly members and opinion leaders, to ensure that the projects reflect the interest and aspirations of the people in the district.

He also cautioned the contractors and the Works Department of the Assembly to play its supervisory role and not to shy away to point out their shoddy works.

Mr Abdul Hannan, Assembly Member for Woribogu Electoral Area, expressed gratitude to the assembly for ensuring that his community enjoys its share of the national cake.

Assistant Superintendent of Police George Aboagye, District Police Commander, said the accommodation project would curtail the difficulties newly posted police officers go through in getting a place to lay their heads.

The DDF is a performance measure of Metropolitan, Municipality and District

Assemblies based upon annual performance which is verified in an evaluation called the Functional Organisation Assessment Tool.

The performance of the Assemblies is determined against predetermined agreed upon indicators.
