Nyinahin residents appeal for completion of post office

Residents of Nyinahin, the capital of the Atwima-Mponua district, have made a passionate appeal to the district assembly and the management of Ghana Post to help complete work on the new post office being constructed in the town.

The project, a district post office, which has been abandoned at the lintel level for the past seven years, is to serve Nyinahin and outlying communities.

Currently, some of the building materials such as gravels and sand that had been left at the site are being stolen by some unscrupulous persons for their personal use.

Opanin Yaw Kyere, an opinion leader in the town told a team of GNA reporters that it was time the Ghana Post, which initiated the project, intervened to complete it as gravels and sand left at the site was being stolen.

The GNA was in the community as part of the STAR-Ghana/GNA media tracking and auditing of development projects, which is being implemented in the district.

The project is an initiative of the GNA to track and monitor development project which is being implemented by the government in the district for the benefit of the people.

It is also to encourage members of the communities to take keen interest in development programmes and participate actively in local governance.

Mr Kyere said the post office project was essential to aid communication while at the same time raising the image of the town which served as the district capital.

Mr Yaw Amankwaa, another opinion leader said though he was not aware of the person undertaking the project, it would be in the interest of the district assembly to find out and support its speedy completion for the benefit of the people.

Mr Amankwah appealed to the district assembly to try to liaise with the Ghana Post to see how best they could collaborate to complete the project.
