Asante-Akim Central to start property addressing

The Asante-Akim Central Municipal Assembly will begin a pilot exercise of property addressing, the Municipal Director of the Town and Country Planning Department, Mrs. Abigail Agyenim-Boateng, has hinted.

This comes on the heels of the successful completion of the street naming exercise in the area.

Mrs. Agyenim Boateng told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that they would start with three electoral areas – Konongo-Zongo, Odumase and Ahenbronum.

She said the project committee did not anticipate any difficulties and that they were confident they could build on the experience and progress achieved under the phase-one of the project – giving street names.

The expectation is that the public would continue to cooperate with the committee.

The GNA had visited the municipality under STAR-Ghana's sponsored media auditing and tracking of development projects, an initiative launched to put the spotlight on how government's resources were helping to transform the lives of the people, particularly the rural population.

The goal is to aid transparency, promote accountability and good local governance.

Mrs. Agyenim-Boateng identified funding as the major constraint they encountered during the phase-one of the project, and expressed optimism that things would get better this time around.

She appealed to the people to show understanding and bear with members of the committee any time they called on them to collect information, pointing out that, their support was critical to the smooth implementation of the project.
