KMA Boss condemns moves to remove him

The Kumasi mayor, Kojo Bonsu has condemned moves by some assembly members to pass a vote of no confidence in him.

Over 40 assembly members have begun the process of passing a vote of no confidence in the KMA boss for allegedly failing to occupy his official residence.

The aggrieved assembly members say the mayor must go because of his refusal to reside in the apartment.

Abraham Boadu spokesperson for the assembly told Starr News that after renovating the residence at a huge cost, the KMA Boss has refused to move in despite pleas from some of the members.

“We did the renovation, I can’t give you the figure but I know it cost the KMA huge amounts and ever since, he has never slept there for even one night."

But the spokesperson for the mayor, Sammy Gyamfi told Kafui Dey, host of Morning Starr on Starr 103.5 Thursday that the residence is not yet habitable.

“The residence is in a very deplorable state, you can see the state of the tiles, carpets, the ceiling and all the other facilities that are available are all not in a good state."

Gyamfi added that the KMA boss is residing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs guest house and would move into his official residence at the right time.
