Edusei Foundation donates GHC80,000 to Otumfuo Education Fund

The Edusei Foundation’s penchant for philanthropy and insatiable bid to support youth development has reached the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Last month, a special delegation from the Edusei Foundation founded by Dr. and Mrs. Bawuah Edusei paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu at the Manhyia Palace to give a boost to his cherished vision of improving standard of education by enhancing access to good quality education through the rehabilitation and provision of the modern educational facilities, equipment and scholarship schemes to needy but bright students.

With Otumfuo Osei Tutu sitting in state during the Awukudae celebration, Nana Kwabena Edusei (Kontihene of Chirapatre) introduced and spoke on behalf of the delegation from the Edusei Foundation. He reiterated Dr Kwame Bawuah–Edusei’s track record of philanthropy and desire to help improve the lives of the youth, especially in education and empowerment which falls in line with the objective and mission of Otumfuo Osei Tutu Charity Foundation.

The Edusei Foundation delegation then presented a check of Ghc80,000 Ghana Cedis to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu Charity Foundation as their contribution to the cause and in line with the Edusei Foundations’ commitment for youth development along with some drinks to help the king celebrate his Awukudae.



Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his appreciation through Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV (Apagyahene) as he was really pleased with the gesture by Dr Kwame Bawuah Edusei and also the amount donated.

The management of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation also promised to use the money for the intended purpose and also provide feedback to Edusei Foundation on projects undertaken with the money donated.

Since its formation, the Foundation has donated to Catholic Father’s Children’s Home in Takoradi, Kumasi Children’s Home and Missionaries of Charity Children’s Home in Mbrom, Kumasi in December 2013.

The donations continued in Osu Children’s Home in Accra in January 2014, Tamale Children’s Home in February 2014. This was followed by a donation of fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GHS50,000) to Catholic Charities of Ghana to support work in the Central, Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper West and Upper East Regions of Ghana. US$25,000 was given to the Ghana Football Association to support the Black Stars’ preparation towards the World Cup in Brazil in June 2014 and recently Ghc50,000 to the Western Region Nananom Education fund. It may be recalled that the Edusei Foundation has reached out and organized a number of Youth Workshops in cities across the globe including London, New York City, Hartford, Connecticut, Washington DC, and Toronto, Canada. Plans are in the advanced stages to hold its first Youth Workshop on Ghana’s soil in Kumasi.

Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei who has declared his resolve to dedicate the remainder of his life as a private citizen to focus of building his business, developing the youth, and empowering women and children is currently funding the building of an international center in Bekwai.

The multipurpose edifice will house the head office of the Edusei Foundation. The center will also be used for other commercial activities to help boost the development of the rural areas. The location is in line with an effective developmental adage of decentralization, a bottom up approach to development with special emphasis on the rural areas.

The International Center consists of a huge multipurpose conference Hall, computer labs, library, museum, seminar auditoriums with full audiovisual equipment, twelve class rooms, science laboratories, thirty hostel rooms each with bath and other amenities, restaurant, and stores all to help create an ideal environment for our goals. The estimated jobs that would be created as a result of the center number well into the hundreds.
