Street naming exercise on course in Upper Manya District

The Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly is advancing steadily in the street naming exercise and hopes to meet the deadline in the directive of the President.

So far, the assembly has erected sign posts, which would be the basis of the naming exercise of the various streets of Asesewa, the district capital.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Media Auditing and Tracking of Development Projects team in an interview, Mr Joseph Tetteh Angmor, the District Chief Executive said, the assembly had finished with the preliminary stages of the exercise comprising formation of various committees and identification of streets and properties.

He said the assembly is now embarking on the numbering of properties such as houses, stores and offices, whiles 15 sign posts with 28 signage’s had been erected within the Asesewa community, adding that, the focus is now on the district capital and the communities which would be tackled later.

Mr. Angmor said, after Asesewa, Akateng and Sekesua, which are centres for large markets, would follow before the other communities in the district.

He however noted that, financial constraint is the major obstacle crippling the exercise, adding that, processes such as mapping, surveying and plotting involves huge costs.
