Parents must partner teachers to mold children - Educationist

Parents have been urged to collaborate with teachers to help develop the full intellects of their children and mold them into good and responsible citizens.

Mr Sidney Adu-Gyamfi, Headmaster of Hope Marie Academy, situated at Sowutuom in the Ga South Municipal Assembly said since parents are the main influence on children, they have to develop a good relationship with teachers so that together, they could train the children to aspire for excellence and the best in life.

“Parents are the single most important variable in a child’s schooling. Parents model both a silent and spoken language in front of their children daily”, Mr Adu-Gyamfi noted, during the 19th graduation ceremony of the School held in Accra, on Tuesday, on the theme: “Empowering the Child’s Education with Excellence”.

A total number of 124 pupils made up of 65 pupils, consisting of 30 boys and 35 girls, graduated from the Junior High School Department, while 59 kindergarten pupils, graduated from the pre-school department to class one of the primary section.

While thanking parents for the sacrifices being made toward their wards education at such critical moments of the country’s economic hardships, Mr Adu-Gyamfi said one of the best ways of developing children is the partnership between the school and parents, who work together for the best interest of the children.

The Headmaster further commended all parents for their support, in educating their children in face of current economic challenges, adding that, education was the best investment one could ever give to a child.

“As your child develops a sense of trust in us and the school environment, we believe that when a child’s social and emotional needs are met, he or she can participate fully in the wide range of learning opportunities at school.

It is the hope of the staff, that all parents would help us fulfill this commitment to excellence on behalf of all children at Hope Marie Academy”, he noted.

“We recognize and strive to meet our students’ emotional, social and physical needs and promote their growth by helping them become critical thinkers, problem solvers, effective communicators and caring citizens.

Master Michel Ayaachab Adochim, Prefect of the School thanked their teachers, for their love, care and discipline they have instilled in the pupils, assuring them that “wherever we may find ourselves, the flag of Hope Marie will be raised so high”.

He said under their term of office, a new library was established and that helped improved the learning environment of the pupils.

As part of the graduation ceremony, a health screening exercise was organized for the school pupils.
