The GIS statement doesn't even refer to Ghanaians travelling back into the country and out of the country, respectively. Any Ghanaian returning home who doesn't go through VIP is treated to an interminable wait in long queues as uniformed immigration officials stand around chatting with each other even as some posts [kiosks] remain unmanned. But what gets my goat is the conspicuous corruption which takes place right before the eyes of everyone present: GIS officials walk up to foreigners coming in to Ghana and offer their assistance to them - no doubt for a fee. So what you have in the arival hall at Kotoka airport is Ghanaian officials queueing up to offer help to any and all foreigners in what is always a short queue anyway to the neglect of the majority Ghanaians who really need help such as families with young children and senior citizens. Mr Francis Pallmdeti and his outfit should include making homecoming an easy and happy occasion for Ghanaians, not a dread-filled and nightmarish bribe-riddled experience.
