Confirmed reports from the Nanumba south district in the northern region indicate that some irate youth of the ruling National Democratic Congress on Tuesday evening set ablaze the Wulensi constituency office and a party pick up.
Sources said the Nissan Hard body pickup with registration number GT1514R was burnt beyond repairs.
The timely intervention of some well meaning residents of Wulensi saved the party office from caving in, said an eyewitness.
Their action was in protest against the renomination of the current District Chief Executive for Nanumba south, Alhaji Seidu Amidu.
Alhaji Seidu Amidu was among the six Municipal and District Chief Executive nominees by President John Dramani Mahama for the Northern and Upper East regions.
But the agitators said their action was in total rejection of Alhaji Seidu Amidu’s renomination.
They have since vowed to chase Alhaji Seidu Amidu out of office if President Mahama does not reconsider his decision.
