Residents at Abesim cry over abandoned toilet

Residents at Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality have appealed to the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh to facilitate the completion of an abandoned toilet facility.

The facility was put up during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Administration as part of the projects for the Ghana @50 celebrations.

The residents told the Ghana News Agency at Abesim over the weekend that construction works on the 12-seater water closet facility started in 2006.

The residents said the facility located at the local Methodist Primary School had become a den for criminals such as wee smokers and drug peddlers.

They said they had made persistent appeals to the Sunyani Municipal Assembly for the completion of the facility but to no avail.

The irony of the matter, the residents noted was that there was no public toilet in the area and they had to walk far distance every morning to queue before they could attend to nature’s call.

When contacted, Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, confirmed the story but told the GNA there was no document at the Assembly covering the project and for that matter it could not continue works on the facility.
