Heaps of refuse have been left unattended to along the main Madina-Adenta Highway a day after the Madina-La Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly embarked on a demolition exercise to clear the road of hawkers and other market women.
The traders had taken advantage of the ongoing road works to sell their wares at unauthorised places along the highway.
The occupation of the sidewalks of the ongoing Madina-Adenta highway by traders became a headache to the authorities, but the hawkers were taken by surprise by the demolition exercise when officials at the Assembly backed words with action.
What remains a worry to road users and patrons around the area is the health risk posed by the heaps of refuse left along the highway
