Prampram Land Saga.. How It All Begun

…OSU WEM family tells all

The head of OSU-WEM family, custodians of Prampram-Dawhenya land of the Dangbe West District of the Greater Accra Region, Mrs. Agnes Nortey Sai has called on Ghanaians, particularly the people of the Ga State to disregard the recent accusation from Hon. E. T Mensah and his cronies that she planned to demolish all the old houses situated on the lands of OSU-WEM family in the area.

Mrs. Agnes Nortey Sai who was an ex-police woman described the allegation as baseless unfounded and lacked credibility, saying it was a calculated attempt by E.T Mensah, Lawyer Adumua Bossman and Nene Tetteh Djan, the Paramount Chief of Prampram Traditional Area, and others to discredit her hard won reputation as well as OSU-WEM family.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Moment, Mrs. Sai who described herself as a law abiding citizen of Ghana, noted that a couple of years ago the Cla Osu-Wem family of Prampram, and E. T. Mensah abused their offices in fronting for one Daina Odonko to become the Stool mother (Senye) of OSU-WEM for which Diana Odonkor did not hail from OSU-WEM family.

The case which she noted, begun at the Tema High Court was referred to Tema Motion Court, where they were told clearly that the case was a chieftaincy issue.

“Base on this, the OSU–WEM family decided to evacuate the Cla family from their land.”

She said they received information that E. T Mensah, Lawyer Bossman and Nene Tetteh Djan held a meeting at Prampram against her, (Mrs Sai), stating at the said meeting that she is planning to demolish all old buildings on Prampram land.

“Our information is that they held a meeting that I said, when I win the court case at the Supreme Court, I will destroy all the old buildings at Prampram which were already marked for demolishing. This is a complete lie,” she said.

On the part of the Adumua Bossman, Mrs. Agnes Sai indicated that Mr. Adumua Bossman was once installed as an Asafoatse by their late father Nuertse Tetteh Kodjo after the death of their own father somewhere in 1989.

Continuing, she said Mr. Adamuah Bossman decided to relinquish the title, as a result of that he brought drinks, a goat and some money to the late Numo Narh Mensah, the then head of OSU-WEM family and others including the proper Se Nye who was installed by their late fathers.

According to her, Mr. Adumuah Bossman is a Nigerian by birth who is grandchild of Shutu who was a care taker on a coconut farm at Abia, a suburb of Prampram, for Mr. Joseph Bossman who was a Brazilian national.

She noted that when the land case of the Osu-wem family started somewhere in September 2003, lawyer Bossman came in as a lawyer for the Osu-wem family and as a result of that, he only represented the OSU-WEM family once in court, and failed to appear for the second hearing with an excuse that he was taken ill.

She also alleged those three years later, Mr. Bossman was seen with a writ from the court impressing upon her to render accounts to him, on the sale of Prampram-Dawhenya lands.

According Mrs. Sai, the late Numo Narh Mensah, Head of OSU-WEM family, in turn got a writ from the High Court calling on Mr. Bossman to come and declare his root in the family and to also show where his grandfather lived.

“Based on that Mr. Bossman vanished again,” she said. Mrs Sai continued to indicate that two months later Mr. Bossman came again with another writ demanding that they render accounts on the sale of Prampram-Dawhenya lands.

“This time too, the OSU-WEM FAIMLY ‘s lawyer, Mr. Safo Boabeng a.k.a Jar, raised the issue from Tema Court B, calling on Mr. Bossman to come and show where his family hails from, but he failed and a cost of GH¢500.00 (5,000,000 Old Ghana Cedis) was awarded to the OSU-WEM family,” she said.

The visible irate Madam Sai mentioned that nothing has since been heard from Mr. Bossman until the recent meeting with E. T Mensah, Nene Tetteh Djan and others at Prampram.

“The OSU-WEM family will not tolerate any evil maneuvers from Mr. Bossman anymore because he is not a native of Prampram, but a Nigerian.”

On the part of Nene Tetteh Djan, she mentioned that, he was not properly installed as a chief of Prampram.

Asked for explanation, she noted that before a proper chief is installed at Prampram, the customary rites are supposed to be performed by the OSU-WEM family as the Head of Dzaase for which they have Ablade Royal House, stressing that none of such rites were performed but rather, Nene Tetteh Djan lured OSU WEM family member, Numo Seku Ablade by inducing him with money to bring the OSU-WEM FAMILY FLAG out without the consent of the entire family, causing his, (Numo Seku Ablade) sudden death.

She said Nene Tetteh Djan do state in a land case “Nene Tetteh Djan Vrs. Central University College,” at Accra Fast Track High Court 6, that on their arrival at Prampram, they came to meet the OSU-WEM family but fought with them, some left and others remain, for which Nene Tetteh Djan mentioned Nene Kweku Darpoh and Awuley Kwao.

“So automatically, Nene Tetteh Djan who came from Annewe family came to meet the OSU-WEM family people at Prampram, and that through the OSU-WEM people they had their surname Abbey,” she said.

She narrated that, “During that time, what happened was that, their great grandfather Numo Nuertey Anemile, the founder of Pranpram was the one who settled at Prampram first and during the slave trade the white men came along the Prampram coast and they became friends to Numo Anamile. Each day they visited each other and one day when they visited our grandfather (Anemile) was not at home, but the next house nearer to them was the Annewe house, so the whitemen went there to look for Numo Anemile upon seeing the white men, the Annewe people begun to run leaving a cripple behind; the whites asked the cripple amid sign language, and he replied, “Abbe” meaning they are not there, in the Dangbe language.”

She said, Mr. Bossman’s name W.A.N Adumua Bossaman, Nuertey is a fetish name adopted from their shrine (Nadu) as his mother, Bortelewa married from Lagos in Nigeria.

“After that Mr. Bossman’s father Kofi Adumua Bossman married to Boitelewa, but couldn’t conceive, so she was taken to the shrine where they were adopted making the OSU-WEM family name becoming part of theirs, although they were natives of Nigeria.

“Through that the Annewe people of the name Abbey. So automatically, the Annewe who are the children of Prampram came to meet the OSU-WEM, the royals and the head of OSU-WEM of Prampram.
