Sekondi Assembly gets grant to undertake projects

The Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) had received over US$1m from the Urban Development Grant (UDG), to enable the assembly to undertake projects within the metropolis.

Captain Anthony Cudjoe (Rtd), the Metropolitan Chief Executive, said projects selected from the Medium Term Development Plan are the construction of library complex at Takoradi, 12-unit classroom block, storm drain at Egyimuabakam and culverts at Ahanta Mampong road.

The rest are upgrading of the 1.8-kilometer Asaekae/Whindo road, mobile hydraulic platform and consultant to conduct environmental and social impact assessment and engineering designs on the UDG projects.

Speaking at the Second meeting of the Second Session of the Fifth Assembly at Sekondi, he said the assembly under the Mass Transit Project has been allocated 10 buses at a cost of US$1, 730,000.**
