Swedruman Council of chiefs reinstates Gyasihene

The Swedruman Council of Chiefs has lifted a three-year ban slapped on Nana Kwame Donkoh II, Agonaman Gyasihene and Mahodwe Chief, who was accused of flouting traditional rules and regulations.

Nana Kobina Botwe II, President of the Council, made this known when the Gyasihene slaughtered a sheep and provided three bottles of schnapps to mark the reinstatement.

Nana Kobina Botwe, who is also Acting President of Nyakrom Traditional Area, cautioned sub-chiefs to desist from endorsing letters from politicians without prior approval from the President of the Council.

He said the chiefs are supposed to be neutral in politics to protect their image since the constitution forbids them from indulging in active politics.

Nana kobina Botwe expressed concern about “unfolding activities” that could compel the Swedruman Council to break away from Nyakrom Traditional Area and set up its own paramountcy.

He said Swedruman lacked a number of development projects and appealed to the Assembly to undertake more projects in the Municipality to improve the living condition of the people.

Nana Kobina Botwe who is also Adontenhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, expressed concern about frequent changes of Municipal Chief Executives (MCE) for Agona West and said this had affected the development of Agona West Municipality.

Nana Kwame Donkoh thanked Swedruman Council of Chiefs for the reconciliation and said this would create peace and unity in the area to enhance development.**
