West Akyem MCE worries about Youth Indiscipline

Mr George Mensah Akpalu, West Akyem Municipal Chief Executive, has expressed concern about indiscipline among the youth and mentioned alcoholism, indecent dressing and disobedience to authorities as serious challenges to youth development.

Mr Akpalu therefore appealed to religious youth organizations to launch campaigns against such behavior.

He said this at the close of the annual delegates’ conference of the Young People’s Guild (YPG) of Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Asamankese on Monday.

Delegates from the 21 Districts in the Eastern Region attended the three- day conference.

Mr Akpalu appealed to the youth, especially Christians, to contribute towards the growth and development of the country and commended the youth from the area for their contribution to the success of the Biometric Voter Registration exercise.

He urged them to join hands in sustaining the peace before, during and after the December election.

The Rev. Paul Kwabena Dekyem, Chairperson for Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery, expressed concern about the rate at which some youth abused the use of the internet.

He said there was a lot of information on the internet that could retard an individual’s advancement and appealed to young people not to be visiting pornographic and other websites that would not add value to their intellect.**
