Parents urged to monitor the performance of their wards

Koforidua, July 19, GNA - Mrs Isabella Neequaye, the Principal of Liberty Specialist Institute in Koforidua, has urged parents to monitor the performance of their children at school and get feedback from their teachers to ascertain their level of performance.

She said a teacher-parent relationship should be built because proper education required the combined efforts of both parents and teachers as education was the greatest legacy every parent can give to his child.

Mrs Neequaye, who was speaking at the 23rd Graduation ceremony of the Institute at Koforidua, urged teachers to be more committed to their work as they possessed the spirit of teaching and always be ready to impact knowledge even when they were inconvenienced.

She also advised students to avail themselves for serious teaching, endure all difficulties and master the ability to rapidly learn everything that they were thought.

Mrs Neequaye said the institute had trained and offered the most vulnerable youth who could have been exposed to immoral activities, waywardness and other deviant behaviours the opportunity to develop their skills and utilize them successfully.

She added that the institute had produced over 2000 students who were contributing a lot to the economic development of the nation.

Mrs Neequaye appealed to stakeholders to assist the school to put up a dormitory.

The Reverend Mrs Edna Ametameh, Director of the school, advised the graduates to be good ambassadors of the school by making good use of all that they had learnt.

She also urged them to further their education, even to the university level.

She appealed to the government, stakeholders and friends of the school to help them acquire a school bus because it was becoming difficult to convey students to their various places of practical attachments and external examination centres.
