Kumawu Sekyere Afram Plains District Readying to Welcome her New DCE

President Evans Atta Mills from his wisdom has judiciously dismissed some MCEs and DCEs for various but unexplained reasons. The abrupt dismissal was a shock to many of the victims who had until now come to see themselves as untouchables either by the virtue of their paper qualifications or strong affiliation with NDC. Truly, no condition has always been permanent.

For the few things I know to have likely triggered the dismissal of the Kumawu Sekyere Afram Plains DCE of which I had constantly warned him against, were his gross incompetence, insolence and loathed womanising. What can he precisely point to as his achievements for the district for the two years he spent in the post? Did he not step on people's toes, treating them with scorn? Had he not been looking down on people, teasing the less educated ones, saying, "I earned this position by the merit of my education?" He failed to listen to my published warnings and sane advice to him. Surely, he is the victim of his own stupidity. I detest gloating over the bad luck of others but I will neither feel any sympathy nor shed tears for this particular DCE who by sheer obstinacy has fallen on his own sword.

I am sure the incoming DCE from "Anwinofi" near Drobonso in the Afram Plains area will behave differently. He is a Masters Degree holder to the best of my understanding and investigation but is it the only qualification we look out for in him? My answer is a big NO. As practical as I have always been and will forever remain, I prefer those who can deliver on policies and promises to those with big but practically worthless paper qualifications. I am happy that he is educationally knowledgeable but I will be much happier to see him deliver in line with the people and President Mills' expectations.

The incoming DCE should try to consult his fellow big brother in government at any opportune time. He should seek advice and directions from him as and when deemed necessary. He is to contact those who are genuine, selfless and dedicated to being of service to the district for assistance regardless how poor and less educated they may be. He should be able to initiate revenue-generating policies for the district. The award of contracts, should there be any, must be transparent. A Contract Awarding Committee must be formed to take charge of issues pertaining to the award of contracts in the district. Infrastructural development must evenly be distributed, taking into prior consideration the urgent needs of the individual townships and villages within the district. He should respect people, listen to people, and aspire to live up to the expectation of his calling if he really wants to succeed. He should not see himself as a typical NDC activist who has come to satisfy the wishes of only the NDC individuals in the district.

To conclude, I am really disgusted at that bizarre attitude of people reading emotions into government appointments. If some NDC fanatics had not been absurdly emotional two years ago, we would not have had such an incompetent DCE with little or no knowledge about his directional bearings hanging around for two odd years. He was lost in his duties same as a rudderless boat will get lost on the high seas. What benefit was his appointment to the district, the NDC and President Atta Mills after all? The guy who could have done the job perfectly well, Alex Adomako-Mensah, has for the second time been shunned for same stupid reasons - being a sibling of someone in government. What has his relationship got to do with his performance at the job been it offered to him? All that the people require is someone who can deliver to alleviate them of their many unnecessary hardships - no public toilets in Kumawu, no jobs, no pipe borne water etc. Those always adhering to such weird mindsets to deny the district of competent and caring administrators should be ashamed of themselves no matter who and what they are.

I wish the incoming DCE a successful New Year.
