Use local dialects to teach when necessary-Ms Roman

Sekondi, Nov. 23 GNA - The Assistant Western Regional Basic School Coordinator, Ms Josephine Roman, has called on Daycare attendants at the kindergarten level across the country to adopt local dialects for their teaching.

She made the call at the graduation ceremony of 56 Daycare attendant= s and caregivers. The group had undergone a three month training program, organized by the Department of Social Welfare at Sekondi. The ceremony, which was the 7th of its kind, was under the theme "Ea= rly Childhood Care and Development".

"The child's native language is an effective communication tool for teaching. Therefore, when learning materials are available, and the linguistic composition of the classes is fairly uniform, the children's first language must be used as the dominant medium of instruction at the kindergarten level."

She advised the Daycare attendants to shun laziness and work extra h= ard to give the necessary foundation to the child. She urged them to carefully monitor the children so that they can detect any early disability. Ms Roman advised the Daycare attendants to love the children as thei= r own and give them quality education.
