YOSU and YKBHF support needy pupils

Yonso (Ash), July 14, GNA - The Yonso Students Union (YOSU) in collaboration with the Yaa Komfour Bediako Heritage Foundation (YKBHF), a benevolent society, have donated educational materials worth several thousands of Ghana cedis to 36 needy pupils at Yonso near Asante-Mampong.

The items included school uniforms, bags, books, pens and pencils. It was aimed at supporting them in their education. Four teachers, who had distinguished themselves in their work, were also presented with cloths by the donors in appreciation of their good work.

Presenting the items at a ceremony at Yonso at the weekend, Mr Isaac K. Yeboah, Country Representative of YKBHF, stressed the need for parents to shun spending lavishly on unproductive items and rather invest in their children's education. This, he said, would enable them acquired the requisite skills and knowledge to facilitate their children's carrier development, stressing that his organisation in collaboration with YOSU had in the past four years made similar donations to about 200 needy pupils at Yonso.

Madam Mercy Twum, Headteacher of the Yonso District Assembly Primary School, who received the items, thanked the donors for the gesture and said it would boost their educational development. Mr Kwabena Danso, outgoing organiser of Yosu, was honoured for his dedicated services to improving the well-being and educational development of the youth in the area.
