Nsaba Secondary School appeals to GETFUND for transportation

Agona Nsaba, C/R, Oct 13, GNA - The authorities of the Nsaba Presbyterian Secondary School in the Agona District of the Central Region, has appealed to the Ghana Education Trust FUND(GETFUND) and other organizations for the provision of a means of transport. Mr Vincent Arhin-Hayford, Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nsaba urged companies, Non Governmental Organisations, the Old Students Association of the school and citizens of the area to go to the aid of the school. He appealed to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to intervene to enhance effective teaching, learning and other activities including sports.

Mr Arhin-Hayford said the school would appreciate assistance from Embassies and High Commissions to solve the transportation trouble. The school's old mummy truck and a bus provided by the Parent Teacher Association(PTA) had broken down.

Mr Arhin-Hayford said the school with a population of about 900 students was relying on a mini-bus bought by the school in 2002, with the capacity for only 15 passengers to convey both teachers and students to school.

The Assistant Head Master pointed out that the authorities always found it extremely difficult to cope with the situation especially during sporting activities.

He said hiring commercial vehicles to compliment the mini-bus was a drain on its financial resources.

Mr Arhin-Hayford said the school increased girl-intake to SSS one this year by about two-thirds in line with the government's campaign to promote girl-child education.
