L'orèal donates to Martey Tsuro Presbyterian Basic School

L'orèal, one of the leading cosmetics producers in Africa as part of its corporate social responsibility dubbed "Citizen Day" has reached out to the Martey Tsuro Presbyterian Basic School today at Spintex, Accra.

Last year L'orèal did a similar project at Mampong school for the deaf and this year it has shifted its attention to Martey Tsuro Presbyterian Basic School which also happens to be in the same geographical area with the company.

Some of the items donated to the school include four desktop computers, chairs, desks, buckets, dustbins and products from L'orèal.

Aside the donations, L'orèal did a bit of renovations on some parts of the school to ease teaching and learning. The ICT laboratory which use to be in a bad and a non-functioning state saw an amount of work done to it. The computer laboratory was repainted as well as some classroom blocks of the school.

Damaged roofing sheets which included that of the ICT lab and a few classes were replaced. A tree was planted in front of the ICT block and staff of L'orèal helped in cleaning the school surroundings.

Mr. Albert Akornor, Head teacher of Martey Tsuro Presbyterian Basic School expressed gratitude to L'orèal for the benevolent act and stated that the school will expand the number of pupils who will use the ICT lab in order to increase the amount of students who will gain access to information technology.

Mr. Sekou Coulibay, General Manager L'orèal West Africa speaking with the press stated the essence of L'orèal Citizen Day is to give back.

He added that the company chose to invest in education and more importantly information technology since it will shape the future of the country.

Martey Tsuro Presbyterian Basic School was established in 1993 and currently has a student population of about 800 students.

L'orèal West Africa has been in the beauty industry for over a decade. The L'orèal company is known for its famous brands like L'orèal, Dark and Lovely amongst others.
