Kasoa district recorded minor increase in motor accidents at Christmas

Kasoa (C/R) Dec. 31 GNA-The Kasoa District Police Command recorded a slight increase in the number of motor accidents between December 24 and December 29 this year, as against 2008.

The District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DSP) Jordan Quaye, made this known in a press statement at Kasoa on Wednesday. He said between December 24 and 29 2008, seven minor accidents involving eight vehicles were recorded but without any death, while in the same period this year, accidents involving 9 vehicles were also recorded without any casualty.

DSP Quaye said that however crime cases in the same period reduced from 41 in 2008 to 39 in 2009.

The Police Commander thanked drivers plying the Kasoa route for their patience and regard for traffic regulations that had contributed to a reduction in accident-related deaths in recent months. He hoped that all motorists would maintain the same composure during the New Year celebrations and beyond to save life and property. The police commander appreciated the assistance of the Awutu-Senya District Assembly, chiefs, the media and people of the area in their contributions to the maintenance of peace, and respect for law and order. DSP Quaye assured members of the general public that, the Police are in control of the law and order situation.
