Gomoa Ankamu chiefs smoke peace pipe

The Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Yamfo Krampah, and the judicial committee of the council have settled the three-year –old chieftaincy dispute between the Odikro of Gomoa Ankamu and his queen mother.

The dispute, which has affected the development of the town, was between Nana Ankamu Otabil IX, Odikro, and the Queen mother, Nana Otebah.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Gomoa Ankamu, while performing the customary rites, Obrempong Krampah warned chieftaincy contractors in the area to desist from any unwholesome acts that would retard the socio-economic and cultural development of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional area.

He, therefore, advised the contractors to halt illegal activities before the law caught up with them.

Obrempong Krampah said the traditional council had taken steps to resolve all chieftaincy disputes in the area because they were having serious negative effects on the socio-economic advancement of the people in the Gomoa District.

The Omanhene cautioned family members in the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, who sell lands without prior approval from the chiefs and heads of clan, to stop the practice.

Nana Ankamu Otabil, for his part, thanked the Omanhene for the amicable settlement of the dispute, which had derailed development projects in the town.

The Odikro called for investigations into the illegal sale of lands at Ankamu, which had become a source of worry to the heads of family and chiefs.

Nana Ankamu said that some family members had forged signatures of he (the Odikro) and the abusuapanyin of the family and sold land to some land developers, which he described as disturbing and disheartening to the family.
