GHS to tap the expertise of retired staff

Koforidua, Jan. 28, GNA- The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), said it will tap the expertise of retired staff for the improvement in health service delivery in the region, when necessary.

The Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyirah, announced this at the send-off/get-together for three of its retired senior staff and another who was on transfer from the region.

The retirees were Ms Evelyn Asiedu-Ofei, Regional Health Service Administrator, Mrs Margaret Appiah-Tufour, Deputy Director of Nursing Service (DDNS) and Ms Patience Quarshigah, DDNS, while Mr Ralph Safo Kofi Hadzi, Acting Eastern Regional Pharmacist, was on transfer to the Upper West Region.

The Regional Health Administration presented them with a set of furniture, a citation and an undisclosed sum of money. Dr Appiah-Denkyirah commended the officers for assisting hospitals in the region to overcome initial problems associated with the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme. He noted that send-off and get-together parties inspired workers to give off their best and to aspire to greater heights. Mrs Juliana Somuah-Boateng, an official at the Regional GHS, advised the retiring officers to apply their experience to the benefit of their religious organisations, social clubs and the community as a whole.

He advised young workers to start planning for their retirement so that they would not be surprise when they reach their compulsory retiring age.
