ER Minister encourages teachers to train students well

Mr. Victor Smith, Eastern Regional Minister, has entreated teachers to develop and train students in a way that when they retire from active service they would have responsible young ones who could replace them.

He also urged pupils to always stay in school and to guard against immoral lives so that they can become responsible adults who would contribute effectively to the development of the country in future.

Mr. Smith was addressing the staff and students of the Akuse Methodist Senior High and Technical School (AMEST) as part of his working visit to the Lower Manya Krobo District, on Friday.

The Minister inaugurated a six-unit classroom block at the cost of GH¢ 260,000 and also inspected on-going construction works on a three-storey girls’ dormitory valued at GH¢ 1,185,000, both funded by the Ghana Education Trust FUND.

Mr. Smith said the Government was doing its best to improve on the quality of education in the country by providing infrastructure to ensure that learning takes place under a more convenient environment.

He reiterated the Government’s effort to provide more of such infrastructure to ensure that the youth or students grow up to be responsible citizens who would also contribute their quota to national development.

Mr. Smith advised the students to reciprocate the Government’s gesture in investments by learning hard.

The Minister earlier in the day met Heads of Department where he urged them to renew the spirit of patriotism and to work hard to help move the country forward.

He later inaugurated a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Atua St. Paul Primary School at Odumase Krobo. He also inspected on-going construction works on 16 stores and a market shed at Agormanya, a six-unit classroom block with office and a store at Nuaso St. Anglican Junior High School, as well as the construction of a three-storey assembly hall complex for the Krobo Girls Senior High School at Odumase Krobo. **
