Catholic Education Unit celebrates Week

Jamasi (Ash), March 31, GNA - The staff and pupils of the local Catholic schools have celebrated this year's Catholic Education Week on the theme "Community Participation in Catholic Education" at Jamasi in the Afigya-Sekyere District of Ashanti.

Addressing them at the Saint Michael's chapel, Mr John K. Brantuo, headmaster of Ashanti School for the Deaf, called for closer collaboration between teachers, parents, the church and all stakeholders to help create the right atmosphere for teaching and learning in the various Catholic schools in the area.

He also advised the pupils to take their lessons seriously to enable them improve their academic performance.

Mr Brantuo urged the parents to pay regular visits to the schools and interact with the teachers and their children to get first-hand information on how their wards were faring.

He paid tribute to the early missionaries for opening more schools to make education accessible to most Ghanaians. The weeklong activities included clean-up exercise, a route march through the principal streets of Jamasi, quiz and thanksgiving service.
