The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Birim South, Mr. Richmond Amponsah has expressed strong optimism that he will change the face of the district within the next year.

Speaking to Rainbow Radio’s Kwadwo Asiedu Ansah, the DCE said, he will brag but was optimistic that he will transform the district through his seven point policies.

‘’God is my helper and I will not sit here and talk about change, but I can assure you that, in the next year, you will see the change I’m talking about. Apart from what Nana Addo has promised, you will see the difference. You can come back to this district in the next year and will be marveled at what you will see,’’ he noted.

Mr. Amponsah revealed that he has seven proposals and one of the major plan is to establish a cassava processing plant to add value to the crop.

‘’I have seven proposals and cassava is our major crop and so, we are going to add value to that. We have topped the district in the harvesting of cassava over the past three years and came fourth on the national chart. We can generate starch, gari, chalk, alcohol and other items from the crop. We can loan an amount of GHC500 each to some 8,000 farmers to help them in that regard,’’ he said.

Mr. Richmond Amponsah added that, they will also add value to cocoa through which the women could be supported to produce soaps from it.
