A GH¢70,000.00 reproductive and child health (RCH) block built for the Atwima-Mponua District Hospital at Nyinahin, has been inaugurated amidst fanfare.

The project, started in 1984 by the hospital’s management, was funded by Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of TIGO, a telecommunication network.

With this, safe motherhood and child health care at the facility are expected to see tremendous improvement.

Madam Theresa Adomako Tawiah, the District Chief Executive said it was a symbol of what could be achieved through public-private partnership.

She expressed her gratefulness to the company for the support and urged the management of the facility to do everything to ensure that it was properly maintained.

.Abdir-EL-Youssefi, Chief Executive Officer of Millicom Ghana, said they were proud to be associated with efforts at assisting mothers and children to have access to quality health services.

He said they would continue to live up to their corporate social responsibility.

Alhaji Dr. Yusuf Adamu Al-Hassan, the Medical Superintendent, said the block provides adequate space for efficient reproductive health service delivery.

He appealed to the company and other philanthropists to provide additional support in helping to expand the delivery room at the maternity block and help give some comfort to midwives and women in labour.
