Anomabo citizens to build a modern place for Omanhen

Anomabo (C/R), April 29, GNA - A sod-cutting has been performed for work to begin on a GH¢350-million modern palace for the Paramount Chief of the Anomabo Traditional Area in the Mfantseman Municipality.

The sod-cutting was performed by Nana Egyir Aggrey, Mpuntuhen of the Traditional Area assisted by Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace consecrated the land. Nana Egyir said the palace being used by the Paramount Chief was built in 1621 and has outlived its beauty.

He said Anomabo had a history, which enjoined it to move with time and noted that it was important for the citizens to construct a modern palace befitting the town. The chief said funds for the project would be raised through voluntary contributions and appealed to the citizens and friends of the town to donat= e towards it.

He said the two-storey palace would contain two court yards, three bedrooms on the first floor, another two bedrooms on the second floor, a conference room and records office and offices of the paramount chief and elders. Kantamanto Amonoo XI, Paramount Chief, expressed gratitude to the initiators of the project and said the new palace, when completed would bring some progress to the area.
